Brad Durham

Brad Durham

Brad Durham derives inspiration from the natural world.  In his words, his imagery “invites the viewer into a dialogue of what is observed and what is remembered, about seeing forms as beautiful metaphors for the passage into a world that lies beyond passive awareness.”

During his residencies at Aurobora, Durham produced several suites of monotypes where floral imagery became formal compositional elements.  The use of varied materials–printed and hand-worked mylar, collage, the deft use of pigments and subtle ink applications–resulted in delicate monotypes that evoke the flower rather than depict it.  This same methodology was employed during subsequent residencies where the direction and creative decision-making in formulating compositions underscores retinal memory, loss and the futility of grasping the intangible.
