Ricardo Mazal

During each of Ricardo Mazal’s residencies at Aurobora, the artist explored the nuances of surface atmosphere and painterly gesture. Characterized by the push-pull scraping of pigment and ink on the plate surfaces, Mazal’s monotypes ultimately become quiet, meditative works. The process in achieving this quality involves multiple passes through the press, each one informing the one before with delicate layering of color and line.
