Steve Roden

Steve Roden

Steve Roden’s art – whether it is his paintings, sculptures, installations, film or sound work—is hinged to a single concept: the arbitrary system.  It is this foundation that allows Roden the liberty to explore various mediums, to translate from one to the other, a strategy that enables the artist to formulate the parameters of his work.  Roden is a bone fide multi-media artist whose search is tethered to the idea that there is a shadowy connection that exists, a cross-point where disparate sensory elements (visual, aural, tactile, etc) converge to alter our perceptions.

In the artist’s works on paper completed at Aurobora, Roden embraced a variety of experimental methods.  Employing stencils, transfers, direct handwork, and intaglio printing, Roden achieves a visual wandering that brings a viewer closer to the intuitive moment, the unvarnished creative act.
