Buckin’ Buffalo draws on the live-animal spectacles that were central to Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. The show traveled with hundreds of animals, including buffalo, which appeared in riding exhibitions, hunting reenactments, and other performances. For audiences far removed from the American frontier, the animals were more than part of the entertainment: they became living symbols of a way of life that was already disappearing.
